Year Running: 2016/2017
Credit level: F4

Description

This module will explore some of the main questions asked by outsiders about contemporary Japanese politics. It begins by providing the background of Japan's own political traditions. It will then introduce and examine a range of issues that the Japanese state and its people have been grappling with since 2000, including the leadership role of the prime minister, the rise of nationalism, Japan's remilitarisation and the triple disasters of 2011.
